Our Story

How it all started...

In the 60's, Vienna Church of the Nazarene was started out of a mechanics shop tucked away on 27th street in Vienna WV. Through the years of Gods blessings, the church added a sanctuary and revamped the facility.

Fast forward to the mid 90's. Pastor John Douglas came to the church as the Lead Pastor. Under Pastor Johns leadership, the church continued to grow and the church underwent some rebranding. River Valley Community Church, RVCC for short,  was born.

In 2017, Pastor JT Douglas accepted the call to preach and was serving as an assistant pastor under his fathers leadership. Early in  2018, One Church was birthed out of a dream that God had given to JT. Later on that year, One Church had its first worship encounter. Because of the churches faithfulness to the vision, God doubled the size of that little Nazarene church overnight.

Just two months after starting this new service, Pastor John went home to be with Jesus and his son JT stepped into that lead pastor role for the church. Through out the next year or so, the church continued to grown in faith and numbers. God didn't stop there though. In 2019, One church along with the parent church (RVCC) decided that it was time to take the next step in the vision.

Expanding the vision...

Taking the next step was uncomfortable but in 2019 the old Vienna property was put up for sale. In summer of 2020, One Church purchased a new building in Parkersburg WV to have a greater impact on our community.

The new building is now open and we are holding services every week. The new facility houses a new modern worship center, new multipurpose classrooms, offices, cafe with seating, and a new and improved  lobby.

We are here to serve a community. When coming to the area, we saw a need to help the homeless and less fortunate in our area. The outside of the building houses designated areas for phone charging. We have also partnered with local shelters to provide assistance with the collection of items to help out in the areas needed the most. We are all about showing Jesus' love to the community and helping anyway we can.

We are excited to have you come and check out the new church.

Where we are headed...

We plan to continue in the Lord's work in the Parkersburg area.  We like to dream big at One Church so we are praying BIG prayers and believing that God is going to do an awesome work in this community. We believe our God is a big God and we will see monumental things in our church and the lives of his people. We are excited to see what He is going to do next.
